The Pinacothèque of Paris is holding the exhibition Pressionnisme, le graffiti sur toile (Pressurism 1970 – 1990, the masterpieces of graffiti painting), an informative exhibition that showed to be a great success right from the start. From March, 12 till 13, September, 2015, the Picanothèque is welcoming thousands of visitors who came to discover the origins of this impressive art.
The Art Gallery of Paris will gather around hundred works, of the period between 1970 and 1990, the works of the greatest masters of graffiti on canvas. These masterpieces will highlight the hidden history of this movement, often marginalized and associated with the tag, and misidentified by the official art history.
These works of art are mainly American, a retrospective to the origins of Graffiti that will allow novices and experts to finally discover these masterpieces of the 70th to the 90th, as the largest part of the collection belongs to a private collector, and was never exposed. Unpublished works of the greatest masters of this art, Rammell-zee in Phase 2, Futura Dondi, or Basquiat in Bando, illustrate the history of this movement and its changing styles.
You will find rare paintings exhibited in New York, by art galleries such Fun Gallery, Tony Shafrazi and Sydney Janis, and France by Agnès b the Galerie du Jour, and Jack Lang at the Palais de Chaillot in 1991.
This exhbition is a unique opportunity to discover more than 1,000 m2, not only an artist, but rather, an Art, “Pressure Art”.
