The fine Parisian museum, Musée d’Orsay will be putting on a special exhibition dedicated to the French Impressionist painter Frédéric Bazille. Under the title of “Frédéric Bazille (1841-1870). The Youth of Impressionism.”, the exhibition will be running, November 15, 2016, to March 5, 2017, a period during which a set of the most stunning artworks of this celebrated artist will be presented to the public.
Frédéric Bazille was born on December 6, 1841, in Montpellier, France. At the very beginning of his career, he was profoundly influenced by Eugène Delacroix and the founder of French Impressionist painting Claude Monet, an aspect that can be obviously seen in his very first creations in particular.
Despite the fact that he died at the age of 28, Bazille left impressive works, most of which are now presented at the Musée Fabre, in Montpellier, and the Musée d’Orsay.
On the occasion of “Frédéric Bazille (1841-1870). The Youth of Impressionism.”, attendees will get the chance to discover around sixty paintings created by this great painter.
“Frédéric Bazille (1841-1870). The Youth of Impressionism.” is curated by:
Michel Hilaire, General Heritage Curator, Musée Fabre, Montpellier
Paul Perrin, Curator, Musée d’Orsay
Kimberly Jones, Associate Curator of French Paintings, National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C.
The exhibition will move to Washington D.C., National Gallery of Art, from April 9 through July 9, 2017.
