In Paris, there is something to please everyone. Those who love shopping and eating out will find plenty of spots to dine and spend. Those who seek a little culture will be delighted by the sheer number of museums, art galleries and theaters filling the City of Light. And the same can be said for the number of dance companies.
For those who love dance, there are a variety of shows from small and intimate expressions of art to spectacular extravaganzas. Somewhere in between those two extremes falls the show ‘M et Mme Rêve.’ French for ‘Mr. and Mrs. Dream,’ this performance mixes the artistic and the extravagant, allowing the audience to witness both at the same time. In this way, the experience mimics the city of Paris itself, with its combination of charming, quaint nooks and bold and audacious grand avenues.
Guests staying at the Hôtel Louvre Marsollier can take a little time during their trip to enjoy this eclectic tribute to ‘absurd theater’ that is mixed with digital 3D effects. Two talented dancers, Marie-Claude Pietragalla and Julien Derouault, dominate the scene as the titular Mr. and Mrs. Dream. Their graceful movements are accentuated and punctuated by impressive computer-generated effects that turn the stage into a surreal dreamscape.
The initial reactions to ‘M et Mme Rêve’ have been so positive that its originally scheduled run from March 12 to March 22, 2014 has been extended to March 29. This gives visitors more than two weeks to catch the magic created onstage. The show takes place at the historic Grand Rex theater in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris. Tickets can be purchased online.
