Over the course of seven summer weekends, a festival called Classique au Vert (Classical on the Green) offers seven different themes and a total of fourteen concerts. The outdoor festival also highlights the links between music and other arts, like literature, dance, painting, cinema, architecture and theater.
These performances reveal that all arts are connected by a common bond to nature, and the Classique au Vert festival is appropriately held in the Parc Floral, one of Paris’s most impressive parks. Beautiful floral creations frame this series of classical music concerts in a park that brings together some of the most unique flowers in the world.
With the addition of sculptures from artists such as Tinguely and Calder as well as theatrical performances in the alleys of the park, this festival offers Paris visitors a comprehensive cultural and artistic experience.
But the focus is nonetheless on classical music, and spectators will get a chance to listen to all kinds. From small groups to large symphonic orchestras, from choral music to chamber music, scores of talented musicians are coming together to bring spectators the best that classical music has to offer. Plus, world-renowned soloists will also be joining the mix in order to create once-in-a-lifetime performances.
The Classique au Vert festival has been coming to Paris every summer since 1993, and this year it will go from August 4 until September 16, 2012. For the weekends that remain, the themes of the festival include Poetry and Literature, Dance, Painting, Cinema, Architecture and the Stage. Concerts begin Saturday and Sunday at 4 p.m.
Guests staying at the Hotel Louvre Marsollier have six more weekends to enjoy classical music and art in a whimsical floral setting.
