Can you imagine a world full of antique toys and collectors’ items filling up a space of 2,500 square meters? Luckily, you don’t have to use your imagination for very long thanks to an expo called Toymania, which is taking place at the Palais des Congrès in Paris on December 8, 2013.
Toymania has a long and storied history in Paris, first debuting 32 years ago in order to give toy lovers the chance to meet, socialize and, most importantly, find new treasures to add to their collections. In fact, Toymania is so popular that the event takes place twice a year, with the December edition finishing up the season.
From amateurs to antique toy professionals, everyone is a kid at heart during Toymania. Participants come from all over the world to show off their collections, find new items and meet with dealers. Roughly 200 exhibitors from a variety of countries will be present to display cars, trains, dolls, soldiers, boats, planes, motorcycles and robots. For the December 2013 edition of the event, a special emphasis has been placed on advertisement collectors’ items. As a result, visitors can discover some of the most famous French brands through collectible items such as plates, toys, posters and more.
One of the most anticipated exhibitors is named Gilles Hervé, a major collector of Märklin toys. This year, he will present toy steam engines and electric trains, some of which are over 100 years old.
Guests of the Hôtel Louvre Marsollier can therefore get a glimpse of the world of the antique toy collecting by visiting Toymania during their stay. Located in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, the Palais des Congrès is just one short Metro trip from the hotel.
