There was a time when all the best artists wanted to see Venice for themselves. They would travel across the continent to find their own way to capture this curious city on canvas. The combination of the architecture, water and people were enough to provide inspiration for the greats. There are still many people to this day that choose Venice as a destination for an artistic retreat. Yet, we cannot forget about all those that travelled from this great city to other artistic nations to showcase their work. Canaletto, Rosabla Carriera and Pellegrini all found fame through their work in Venice.
The Eblouissante Venise exhibition at the Grand Palais – alternatively titled Dazzling Venice – highlights the diversity of work and genres to come from Venice in the 18th century. The exhibition brings together a series of painting, sculptures and other work for a more comprehensive look at this city at this time. It opens on September 26th and continues until the end of January.
