In partnership with Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Musée Picasso will be presenting an exhibition dedicated to the story of Guernica, an outstanding piece of art that was painted by Pablo Picasso in the year 1937 and considered one of the most famous artworks in the entire world.
Guernica is not just any simple painting you come across every day. It is an icon and a true scream of the heart. No wonder an entire exhibition is being dedicated to it.
On the 26th day of April 1937, the city of Guernica was bombed by Italian fascist troops and Germany Nazis under the command of Spanish nationalists. It was attacked by sixty planes that had a bombing alternative explosive, which actually was the very first in the history of mankind. The consequence, a huge number of people perished.
Picasso created dozens of drawings as well as preparatory studies before creating his masterpiece. The Musée Picasso has an exceptional loan of sketches for this exhibition, obtained from the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía.
Organized in partnership with the Archives Nationales de France, the exhibition is one of those that you do not want to miss.
