In celebration of the Maison Dior’s 70th anniversary, La Galerie Des Galeries cultural space will be holding, until October 22nd, 2017, an exhibition held in honor of the “Christian Dior, Designer of Dreams” exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs.
The exhibition displays a collection of 12 blue looks pulled from the archives of the Dior House and which were designed by the designer himself. It goes as far back as 1947 when the elegant Doris wool coat was unveiled in the New Look line, under the first Haute Couture collection, all the way to 1957, when the highly famed Billet Doux, a blue silk afternoon dress with distinctive rose motifs was unveiled.
The designer on numerous occasions made known his love for blue even claiming that it was the only color that could complete with black as it has all the same qualities. The I Feel Blue exhibition is, therefore, an impressive depiction of his regard for this color as a symbol of sophistication and elegance. It also pays a tribute to the French royal class as blue has always been the monarchy’s traditional color.
