Kupka is revered as one of the leading names in abstract art in European art history. Therefore, the name Pioneer of Abstraction is fitting for the current Parisian retrospective of his work. His paintings made bold statements at the turn of the century, and continue to inspire and impress art lovers today. The clever use of colour to indicate emotion is something that many current art students can learn from.
This show at the Grand Palais, Galeries nationales, invites visitors to take a step back and deconstruct the work of this abstraction master. The paintings on display are some of Kupka’s finest and highlight his skill with colour, shape, and composition. Furthermore, the show captures some of his best work through the 19th century and post-war eras. This is a wonderful chance to see this work in one gallery. But, it won’t be around for long as the show ends on July 30th.
