2018 sees the 10th anniversary of the death of Yves Saint Laurent. Many in the fashion world and the Parisian social scene will be shocked that it has been so long. Thankfully, the Musée Yves Saint-Laurent Paris has put together something special for the summer to commemorate this event. The influence of this fashion giant is clear in the work and styles of many people living and working in the city, and across the continent. Yet, few will have seen the influence on the man himself.
This new exhibition showcases some of the early drawings and ideas of this iconic figure, with a focus on his teenage years in Algeria. The sketchbooks, figures and other creations highlight a love of fashion, arts and creative design that was instilled within him from an early age. Theatre sets express his love for the performing arts and his paper figures and silhouettes are a sneak peek at his earliest visions. The show is essential viewing for local fashionistas and runs until September 9th.
