Starting in June, those in Paris can take part in an exciting event being held at the expo center the Parc des Expositions. From June 30 until September 7, 2014, this space measuring 4500 square meters will be devoted to the history of video games.
The event, called “Videogame Story,” presents nearly 300 playable machines for visitors to enjoy. The Parc des Expositions will be transformed into a museum dedicated to video games. The event revolves around three themes: retro gaming, today’s hit games and the video games of the future.
With retro gaming, visitors can take a journey more than 40 years back in time, exploring the video game technology and production of the past. Visitors can play with roughly 300 classic games, starting with the very first home video game sole — the Magnavox Odyssey — and going up to the more recent past.
In the modern hit games part of the expo, visitors can discover the games that are causing a stir in the gaming world today. They can also be amongst the first to play games that will be released towards the end of 2014. Meanwhile, the “House of the Future” enables visitors to see how the games of tomorrow will incorporate virtual reality and cloud gaming features.
Guests staying at the Hôtel Louvre Marsollier can take part in this high-tech event, where a 4K screening room gives them a sneak peek of trailers and excerpts from video games in extremely high resolution.
Video game fanatics should be warned, however, that visits are capped at three hours and visitors cannot stay any longer than that. These restrictions are managed by a schedule of timed visits going from 9 a.m. to noon, 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. every day.
The website for the Videogame Story event will open on the 28th of April, so fans should look out for more details then.
