Every year, the Parc de la Villette presents fun summer activities related to music, dance and food at a festival called Scènes d’été (Summer Scenes). This year the Summer Scenes festival takes visitors on a journey around the world, from the Balkans all the way to South America, visiting some African countries on the way. This festival enables anyone who is interested in music and dance to explore various styles that are as surprising as they are innovative.
Bringing together many talented artists from diverse places, this cosmopolitan event is going on until August 26, 2012. Guests staying at the Hotel Louvre Marsollier therefore have one more weekend to take advantage of the festivities. The focus of the festival is a series of dance and music courses for novices. Even those who have never danced or played an instrument before are encouraged to come and discover a different world.
On Saturday, August 25th the festival offers a “tasting workshop” incorporating two things that are seemingly unrelated: cakes and orchestra music. This event will be going on from 3:00 p.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The event costs 15 euros and includes snacks like cakes inspired by musical instruments.
On Sunday, August 26th several events are planned. First, there will be a presentation of recipes that are inspired by water, like iced gazpacho, fresh cucumber cocktails and melon sorbet. The workshop starts at 11:00 a.m. and costs 20 euros. Then, a number of free clarinet performances will be put on simultaneously throughout the park. Starting at 2:00 p.m. guests will be able to stroll through the park discovering each musician in the open air. At 5:15 p.m., visitors will be able to enjoy a show called “Clarinet connexion,” which will finish out the evening.
Checking out the Summer Scenes festival gives visitors the chance to discover sights, sounds and tastes that they have never tried before.
