From January 23 to February 23, 2017, the modern Parisian opera house, Opera Bastille, holds Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute, in an amazing show organized by the Opera de Paris.
With a libretto to the German impresario and artist Emanuel Schikaneder, The Magic Flute had its world premiere at the Theater auf der Wieden, in Vienna, on September 30, 1791, two months approximately before the composer’s death.
As for the performance at Opera Bastille, it will bring together the talented conductor Henrik Nánási as well as some of the best operatic singers including Stanislas de Barbeyrac, Pavol Breslik, Gabriela Scherer, Annika Schlicht, Nadine Weissmann, Christina Gansch, Michael Volle, Florian Sempey, René Pape, Tobias Kehrer, Andreas Conrad, Albina Shagimuratova, Sabine Devieilhe, Nadine Sierra, Kate Royal, Elsa Dreisig, José Van Dam, Sebastian Pilgrim, Paul Kaufmann, Martin Homrich, Luke Stoker, and Solistes des Aurelius Sängerknaben Calw.
The opera will be sung in German but provided with both English and French surtitles.
