From the 10th to the 20th of October, 2015, George Frideric Handel’s famous oratorio, Theodora, is back on stage with the Baroque musical ensemble, Les Arts Florissants, at the historical monument, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Paris.
This piece of art is actually, Handel’s penultimate work. He started composing it in June 1749, and it was performed for the first time on March, the 16th, 1750, at Covent Garden Theater.
Unlike Handel’s other oratorios’ plots, the plot of Theodora revolves around the tragic end of a Christian girl whose name is Theodora, and her lover, Didymus, because of their refusal to make sacrifice to the Roman goddess of love, Venus.
Guided by the brilliant musical director, William Christie, and with the participation of the charming English soprano Katherine Watson as well as the adorable French mezzo-soprano Stéphanie d’Oustrac, the ensemble will perform a new production of Theodora in English and with French subtitles.
The show will last approximately 3 hours, during which you will transcend time and space.
Hotel Louvre Marsollier gives you the opportunity to go to the show and to be among the firsts who will attend it. Do not miss your chance!
