Trésors de Kyoto is a new exhibition that will soon appear at Musée Cernuschi. The idea is to celebrate the long history of the Rinpa school in Japan via a series of around 60 pieces of work. This is an important part of Japanese art history as it signifies a shift in purpose and composition. Therefore, this show should appeal to art lovers as much as those that admire Japanese culture.
One of the interesting aspects about this exhibition is that the pieces within are in rotation. The reason for this is the fragile nature of the work.
When curators call this series the “Treasures of Kyoto” they are referring to some very precious items of historical value. The team will change the rooms four times over the run to protect the paintings. Therefore, visitors need to plan ahead and check that the exhibit is open. The good news is that the show runs from October 26th, 2018 to January 27th, 2019, so there is plenty of time to enjoy the works.
