An interesting exhibition dedicated to gold, “113 Ors d’Asie”, is taking place at the Musée Guimet art museum, in Paris. From June 21st, 2017, to September 4th, 2017, this presentation spotlights the different uses of gold throughout Asia. It touches on the gold powder used in sculptures in Korea and Japan, ligatures in China, gold coins in Afghanistan and adornment of Indian Maharajas.
At the Museum of Asian Art – Guimet, 113 masterpieces will tell the history of this precious metal in the Asian continent; the presence of gold and the central role it plays in Buddhist symbolism, Tantric Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism.
Gold was regarded as a symbol of power in Mughal India and was widely used by the Mughal people in the production of luxury objects. In the Far East countries, it was provided in gold dust for objects used by the bourgeoisie in the past.
The Musée Guimet welcomes you and invites you to visit this fascinating exhibition. It is located in the 16th arrondissement. So, don’t hesitate to visit it, if you’re one of our Louvre Marsollier‘s guests this summer.
Have a nice stay!
