If you were asked to name a leading Danish painter, it might take you a while to come up with a name. Denmark is often forgotten about when it comes to art and any grand exhibitions. But, the Petit Palais, with the help of Stockholm Nationalmuseum and Copenhagen SMK, have put that right. Their new show brings together 200 painting from Danish artists, all in an era known as the golden age of the Danish painting – hence the title of the show.
There are interesting pieces of portraiture, landscapes, still life paintings and more. You might not know much about Danish art going into this show, but you will have a much better understanding at the end. This exhibition is well worth a visit if you have an interest in cultural identity within art. It is already underway and continues until the 3rd of January. Don’t miss out on this opportunity.
The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Statens Museum for Kunst (SMK) in Copenhagen and the Nationalmuseum of Stockholm.
