A new production of Lohengrin by Richard Wagner, the prolific German composer will grace the stage of the Opera Bastille, from January 18 to February 18, 2017.
Organized by the Opera de Paris, this amazing three-act opera will be led by the music director of the Paris Opera, Philippe Jordan, in a performance including the orchestra and choir of the Opéra national de Paris.
With both music and libretto written by Wagner, this Romantic opera was first performed on 28 August 1850, in Weimar, Germany, at the Staatskapelle Weimar. It was directed by his close friend the popular Hungarian musician Franz Liszt and was considered a revolution in the world of opera as it marked the beginning of the through-composed music drama.
