The Georges Pompidou Center is dedicating a retrospective dedicated to the artist Mona Hatoum, an exhibition takes place from 11, july to 29, september 2015. The British artist, of Palestinian origin, is one of the best art representatives of the international contemporary scene.
The exhibition totally devoted to Mona Hatoum gather a hundred works of the artist and traces back her work from 1977 till nowadays. This retrospective puts together a dense work exposed at Pompidou until 29, september,2015. Mona Hatoum offers the public a retrospective of her work in formal and sensitive affinities. The exhibition is in fact marked by two major periods that divide the artist’s work, the 1980s mark the territory of performance and video. Mona Hatoum’s work is then of a narrative nature and focuses on social and political issues. Since the 1990s, her production is characterized by more permanent works, installations, sculptures and drawings.
Mona Hatoum explores facilities influenced by the kinetic and phenomenological theories, using materials found in industry or in its own environment. Some of her installations and sculptures are mostly incurred, around which gravitate rather surrealist objects, works on paper realized with unusual everyday materials or photographs taken during travels, and in connection with other works in the exhibition.
