From September 22nd,2017 until January 21st, 2018, the Parisian art museum, Musée Maillol is host to an interesting exhibition that sheds light on the Pop Art Movement in post-war America.
“POP ART – Icons that matter ” shows the audiences the collection of the Whitney Museum of American Art, in New York, a collection assembled thanks to the efforts of the prominent American sculptor and art collector, Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney (1875-1942).
Featuring some 60 pieces varying from paintings to stunning sculptures and prints, the collection on view includes remarkable works produced by renowned artists such as Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, Claes Oldenburg, Tom Wesselmann, Jasper Johns, James Rosenquist, Alex Katz, Jim Dine and Roy Lichtenstein.
Other wonderful works by other American artists who are less known in France are also on exhibition.
