The Paris Musée d’Orsay brings us something a little different this winter in the form of a Laurent Grasso film. At its core, there is a theme of evolution, which ties in with the museums work on Darwin and the anniversary of his work. Here, there is a “machine film” that evolves and presents new images and ideas based on a database of pre-existing images. Instead of looking at the world as it is right now, the artist took a step back to go over what we already had available and how that could be presented under this theme.
It is a bold idea that has to be seen to be fully understood. You can do so on the towers of the museum from November 10th. At the same time, you will find other works from the artist to compliment the exhibit. It is an interesting response to both the original theme and lockdown restrictions, so don’t miss out.
