Some people collect massive jewellery collections, with an appreciation for the cuts and finishes on the jewels. Then some would much rather have rough geological specimens and gemstones in their home. Whichever your preference, you can’t deny the connection between the two. It is often fascinating to see the origin of those precious jewels.
The new Pierres Precieuses exhibition in Paris at Muséum national d’Histoire Naturelle Galerie de l’Evolution celebrates this in style. There are some impressive pieces from both ends of the spectrum, with around 800 pieces in total. Guests also get a history lesson about the origin of the pieces and the way that these stones entered the world of fashion. It is a great way to see these stone in a perspective and learn a little about geology along the way.
The show is already underway and you can see the pieces until the 14th of June 2021.
