Paris has seen its fair share of contemporary Japanese artists in galleries in the last few years. But, it is always nice to take a look back to some early works and etchings that showcase the history and culture of this nation. That is what you will find when you head to Musee Cernuschi later this year. The museum has a series of pieces celebrating the Kisokaido road network in a show called From Hiroshige to Kuniyoshi, the sixty-nine Kisokaido stops.
The vast range of beautiful images and figures depicted along this route offers a great insight into the culture and lifestyle of those in the area, as well as the geography of the road. The work comes from a series of collections, including some from the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and others not yet displayed to the public from Ceruschi itself. The show opens on October 16th and runs until January 17th.
