Until May 22, 2017, the Louvre museum will be presenting “Vermeer and the Masters of Genre Painting”.
Dedicated to some of the finest works of the Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer, the exhibition, which aims at examining these works in juxtaposition to other Dutch painters of the Golden Age, highlights work by famous artists like Gerrit Dou, Gerard ter Borch, Gabriel Metsu, Caspar Netscher, Jan Steen, Pieter de Hooch, and Frans van Mieris.
Among Vermeer’s masterpieces which are displayed, visitors can explore brilliant paintings such as The Milkmaid (c. 1657–58), the famous Woman Holding a Balance (c.1664), and Woman with a Lute (c.1662-63).
“Vermeer and the Masters of Genre Painting” is, without any shadow of doubt, one of the must-see exhibitions in Paris this year. So, if you’re one of the Hotel Louvre Marsollier Opera Paris’ guests, don’t hesitate to visit it!
Held in partnership with the National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin and the National Gallery of Art in Washington.
