Ker-Xavier Roussel is an artist that doesn’t get the same amount of attention as some other impressionists of his era. You may find the odd painting here and there in a collection, but no grand retrospective or analysis of his work. That is why the new exhibition at the Musee des Impressionismes Giverny is so important. This show is a chance to see a vast selection of work on a scale we haven’t see in Paris since the 1960s. There are pieces here that will be considered masterpieces and others that are not. Yet, it is important to see the breadth of work – from early paintings to late engravings – to get a better impression of the man behind the brush.
Ker-Xavier Roussel: Private Garden, Dreamed Garden is a show that may slip under the radar with so many other shows going on. But, art lovers are urged to check it out and learn a little more about this artist. The exhibition continues until the 11th of November.
